Industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla receives Padma Bhushan

Industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla was presented with India’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, by President Droupadi Murmu. This honor was bestowed upon him in recognition of his significant contributions to the fields of commerce and industry. The Padma honor is being bestowed upon him for the fourth time in his family’s history.

On Wednesday, India’s third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, was presented to the director of the Aditya Birla Group. Kumar Mangalam Birla received this honor. At the gathering honoring recipients of the Padma awards, which took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu presented KM Birla with the award.

The Padma Bhushan honorary title was bestowed upon Kumar Mangalam Birla for the significant contributions he made to the fields of business and industry. A Padma medal has been bestowed upon him, making him the fourth member of his family to be so honored.

Prior to Kumar Mangalam Birla receiving the Padma Bhushan, his mother Rajshree Birla, grandfather Basant Kumar Birla, and great-grandfather Ghanshyam Das Birla all received the Padma Bhushan. Kumar Mangalam Birla received the Padma Vibhushan.

The industrialist was quick to express his appreciation and acknowledge that receiving the Padma Bhushan was a humbling experience. He did so shortly after receiving the national honor.

“Over the course of several generations, my family has been governed by the ideals of nation-building and trusteeship. As a result, being awarded this prestigious national honor is a truly touching experience. In his acceptance speech, Kumar Mangalam Birla said, “I thank the Honorable President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, and the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, for this prestigious honor, which I accept on behalf of my 140,000 colleagues from 36 countries.”

Earlier on in 2018, it was confirmed who would be receiving Padma Awards in 2023. A few days after the news broke, the workers at the Aditya Birla Group planned a surprise party for their CEO, Kumar Mangalam Birla. The party included a large cake, pyrotechnics, and banners that extended their congratulations to Kumar Mangalam Birla.
